Employees and the friends and family members of Care Source employees can participate in the 5k and 1 mile fun runs. This is my second time doing it and despite going off the rails in the winter and barely training at all I did better than expected. I figured I'd clock in around 35 mins and that's about what I did(chip time 35:28). My strava says I went a little bit shy of 3.1 miles so I guess they didn't measure the course accurately
I was walking over to line up in the chute and saw this urban duck. It looked way too comfortable to be chilling downtown near the loud speakers.
Early in the race there was a bridge and coming around the bend it looked like there were a bunch of hobos sleeping there. Nope it was just super hero balloons. Even knowing what they were seeing that Spiderman skulking by the bushes in my peripheral vision spooked me out.
A little bit before I hit the major turn around point I saw this Batman. That was pretty cool. I don't know how these people do 5ks in costumes. I'd be burning up and miserable.
Here's a very blurry photo of the Dayton Canoe Club. I mentioned it to the family while we were traveling at the Potatowami Inn. They seemed to be built around the same time and had the same vibe. This canoe club is much smaller and nestled in the ghetto now instead of Pokemon state park. It's actually Pokagon state park but while we were there I kept calling it Pokemon state park.
The balloons still looked spooky on the way back.
After the race I headed to the downtown office and hit up the free breakfast. Had some eggs and breakfast potatoes and some coffee. That was pretty cool. Then after that I hopped into the line for AWESOME PRIZES like this Caresource lunch box.
Then I realized you had to participate in the stamp rally to spin the wheel. So I went around and got my stamps. The mental health app lady was really excited to tell me about some scratch and sniff relaxation thing with a QR code. Lady I just want to spin the wheel for my chance to win an Xbox or PS5. Come on now.
I won this mega sweet portfolio. I will keep a lot of important documents in here.
On my walk back to my truck I saw TWO urban ducks.
