Newport Aquarium Mermaids 06 01 2025
The mermaids were on display and we got there in time to see one getting lifted out of the tank by a SCUBA MAN and then saw one getting plunked in. She made love hearts at my kids which was pretty neat.
We rushed to the aquarium with poor planning to just barely see the end of the Mermaids. We went straight for the corral tunnel to check out the last scheduled mermaid just in time to see this one getting taken out of the tank. I joked with the kids that this was Prince Eric taking her back to the kingdom to sign some tax papers and royal decrees.
Then the SCUBA MAN brought this Mermaid into the water. She swam around and made love hearts at my kids and it was pretty neat.
Near the beginning of the Aquarium there was a mermaid doing photos with the kids. That wasn't that cool...you want to see mermaids trapped in a tank with HUGE FISH.
After we saw the mermaid swimming around a while we headed back to the beginning and started checking everything out. Here's a cute lizard of some kind.
Look at this BIG FISH.
Look at this giant gross crab.
This fish was cute and VERY WIGGLY.
This fish was huge. I would name him Stuart. If you go to the Newport Aquarium say hi to Stuart for me.
Here are some starfish.
My kids are checking out this cute lizard.
This cute little puffer fish came up to the glass and tried to give me as smooch with its kissy lips.
We saw this little crawdad.
We also spotted this blue lobster guy.
Eastern Hellbender!
No one could tell me why there was a laundry basket in the aquarium. But me, I knew the truth, this thing is full of dirty coconut and clamshell bras.
These turtles kept nipping at eachother. I'm not sure if it was a fight or turtle flirting.
This is a European Cuttlefish.
This is my sons favorite animal the Axolotl.
This little feller is called a Tomato Toad. I think.
MY kids were checking out these awesome jellyfish.
This was a really cool Axolotl ball. It was in the $10 and below bin but not individually priced. I bet it was $9.99.
Those were the highlights of our trip to catch a glimpse of some mermaids!
