Van Del DRive In Lilo & Stitch 05/24/2025
This entry in our ongoing quest to visit as many Drive Ins as possible takes us about two hours north to the Van Del Drive In locaed in Middle Point OH. This was my first encounter with a Drive In requiring you to buy a food pass. I think after our experience though that we could have gotten away with not buying the pass. But due to the cramped quarters in my Tacoma when driving with a full cab it was pretty obvious to the ticket lady that we had a few pizzas. I personally thought I could have stowed them in the bed under the seats and blankets and what not, just sayin'.
Along our journey we passed through New Knoxville Ohio. My Mind was blown when I saw a nice condition phone booth on the corner then my mind was FURTHER BLOWN when I saw a second phone booth. This is a two phone booth town. Dayton is a zero phone booth town.
I tried looking on google maps for the firsts phone booth I saw because I didn't turn around to take a photo of it. This might be a third. Who knows how deep the phone booth hole goes in New Knoxville?
Perhaps some time travelers were doing a history report on corn, IDK. SAN DIMAS HIGH KETTLE CORN RULES!
We were passing through St Mary's and grabbed a pizza from this bar on the way. It was alright. I forgot to take pictures lmao. I was excited for this trip to take photos along the way. Maybe I'll get better over time?
I did get a picture of the sign though. It's pretty rad.
This was the most packed Drive In I've ever been to. It was honestly hard driving through the rows dodging kids and trying to find a place to park the truck. The screen was honestly kind of small adn I didn't go in the snack shack but I heard it was kind of grody.
Look how full this place was.
Other side of hte lot. There was also a screen behind us playing Minecraft but it was much smaller.
My BB took a pic of the snack shack.
After Lilo & Stitch we checked out the intermission ads which were pretty cool. Since we were so far out we didn't try to catch the second movie "The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie". I am in awe of how packed this Drive In was and appreciated the night sky, I thnk we saw two sattelites with our naked eyes, because it was so dark.
